Teaching and learning in Music at New Pasture Lane Primary School
At our school we place a high value on the role of music as part of a rich and creative curriculum.
Children participate in musical activities every day, for example through singing and listening to music in assemblies and in the classroom. We provide a programme of opportunities for children to listen to performers and to perform in the local community.
We aim for every child to fulfil their dream of learning a new instrument or performing in front of an audience. All children are included in the school productions to enhance their confidence and singing and dancing skills. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn the skill of reading music or playing a musical instrument if that is their desire.
Music is taught as a whole school activity and also in the classroom where teachers develop opportunities to learn about music through a cross curricular approach. Children self-evaluate and build in confidence through performing in front of their peers and a wider audience.
Kapow Music is now being taught throughout the whole school and offers inclusive, entertaining and progressive music lessons.
